AI, Supply Chain, Regulatory Shift in Chemistry and Medicine

Introduction

It is our great pleasure to announce that the 2025 Annual Symposium of Chinese American Chemical Society – East Chapter will be held at the Busch Campus of Rutgers University on June 7, 2025. This year we will keep offering more exciting opportunities for face-to-face discussion, networking, and collaboration.

This year's theme, " Embracing a Changing Landscape: AI, Supply Chains, and Regulatory Shifts in Chemistry and Medicine ", emphasizes the crucial role that chemistry and medicine play in improving our quality of life, from the development of life-saving drugs and therapies, to the emerging topics of artificial intelligence and supply chain challenges.

The morning session of this symposium will feature expert panels in artificial intelligence, supply chain challenges to cope with the new tariff policy, and the evolving regulatory landscape of chemistry, manufacturing and controls. The afternoon session will provide an unlimited networking event to boost your business, career, network and fun! The poster session and career workshop will also be hosted to develop our young future talents.

Great thanks to our vendors and sponsors, we will be providing free breakfast, coffee break, lunch and afternoon snack.

We are excited to offer this opportunity for attendees to engage with their peers, learn about new developments in chemistry and medicine, and connect with potential collaborators and employers.

On behalf of the organizing committee, we would like to wish everyone a successful and enjoyable symposium. We look forward to seeing you there!

In today’s rapidly shifting world, global talent faces unprecedented challenges—from AI-driven career disruption to complex visa and immigration hurdles. Breaking In, Not Breaking Down: AI-Smart, Visa-Savvy, and Future-Ready in a Shifting World is a powerful guide for new graduates and early-career professionals navigating these turbulent waters. This talk reveals how to harness the power of generative AI as a career accelerator rather than a threat, develop savvy strategies to manage visa uncertainties, and embrace a global mindset where opportunity knows no borders. You’ll learn practical steps to stay ahead, transform obstacles into advantages, and build resilience that goes beyond tech skills—empowering you to thrive with courage, creativity, and confidence in a future shaped by constant change. This is your roadmap to not just survive but break in and shine.

The audience will walk away with:

v A sharper lens on AI — not just how it threatens jobs, but how to use it as your unfair advantage.

v  Ways to create your own ‘first rung’—even when traditional entry-level roles are vanishing.

v An updated GPS for navigating uncertain immigration paths—with clarity, not fear.

v  A mindset shift: From stuck to global

Since 2022, the presenter has served as an ACS Workshop Facilitator and Career Consultant, dedicating her career to empowering emerging academics. Having begun a higher education journey at Texas A&M University–Kingsville—where she teaches chemistry the presenter has long embraced a dream ignited in childhood. At the age of eight, she envisioned a future as an educator, a role that she describes as “the engineer of the human soul,” a sentiment that continues to inspire every step today. In this presentation, the speaker explores practical and strategic methods to secure academic positions, from postdoctoral fellowships to tenure-track roles, specifically tailored for Chinese American students & postdoctoral researchers looking for permanent positions, while junior faculty and senior professionals considering career transitions.

Abstract:

Drawing on a wealth of experience and a blend of traditional and innovative job search strategies, the presenter covers critical topics such as how to identify and leverage academic job boards, capitalize on professional and cultural networks, and tailor application materials to highlight not only scholarly achievements but also the unique cultural perspectives that serve as a competitive asset in today’s market. The talk begins by outlining fundamental techniques for researching open positions and crafting an effective academic curriculum vitae and cover letter. It then delves into practical networking tactics—from nurturing mentorships to engaging with influential peers and thought leaders in professional communities, both online and offline—to uncover hidden opportunities. Finally, the presentation addresses essential interview preparation and negotiation strategies that enable candidates to compellingly articulate their research vision and cultural contributions. Infused with personal passion and reflective insight, this presentation aims to inspire and guide Chinese American scholars in navigating the academic job market, affirming that the journey toward one’s lifelong dream in higher education is both achievable and profoundly rewarding.
